Native speakers from Britain who want clearer, more refined speech. You speak English every day but feel there are significant gaps in your understanding due to an inferior education. You may have an accent that is judged unfairly or you simply feel that the way you speak doesn’t match your intelligence, confidence or ambitions. Perhaps you’ve tried watching videos here and there to improve your speaking but it hasn’t led to lasting change and you still feel confused. You need something that gets to the root of the problem and rebuilds your speech in a more refined and elegant way.

You’re willing to learn the IPA (the symbols that represent the true sounds of speech) and to look closely at small details of sound you probably have never noticed before. This is because you understand that real improvement requires precision and detail rather than quick tips or general advice videos.

You will follow a clear, structured path that teaches you one sound or important pronunciation feature at a time so you never feel lost or overwhelmed. Your lessons will be accessed on Jade Joddle’s student website, where you will have your own login for accessing the course. You will follow each step of the course as it gradually builds in difficulty and complexity, building up your ability and skill to pronounce complex words and phrases. This is a practical course that employs a repeat-after-me method. You will listen to audios containing original, complex English sentences and then repeat them after me. You will be aided by lesson transcripts written in IPA and by detailed lesson notes that explain any unfamiliar vocabulary. The exercises provided with each lesson will develop your English vocabulary further, reinforcing everything you have learned.

You will practise regularly and often with the practical audios in the course, finding space for it in your daily routine (15 minutes of training per day is enough) for a minimum of 44 weeks. Improving your speaking skills takes time and repetition, and the best results cannot be rushed. This long-term course is designed to give you everything you need as you work independently to improve your speech. You will do the lessons either on your phone or using a computer, following the course materials without receiving personal feedback from Jade. Course access is forever, and you can do the lessons at your own pace, repeating them as many times as you like.

How long does it take to see an improvement?

As long as you commit to regular practise with the course materials (6 days out of 7; 15 minutes per day is recommended), you will notice small improvements to your speech clarity and control within a few weeks. Real, lasting change takes longer, but when you follow the lessons consistently you will build a stronger, more accurate way of speaking that continues to develop throughout the 44-week course. The best results are achieved by students who use the materials long-term, finding space for the course within their daily routine. By the end of the course you will have attained a higher level of English speech and clarity, even to the point that others notice the improvements to your speaking and confidence.

Will this course give me a British accent?

Group One For English learners: Yes. This course teaches you how to speak with a clear, accurate British accent. As you follow the lessons, your speech will shift steadily towards Standard British English, and you will learn to pronounce words and sentences in the same way they are spoken by educated native speakers in the UK.

Group Two For native English speakers: This course will refine and elevate the British accent you already have, helping you speak with the clarity, precision and educated level of speech that you didn’t learn at school or get from your upbringing. You will learn the detailed sound knowledge that allows you to remove long-standing flaws and regional features that limit your potential.

Do I need previous knowledge of the IPA?
No. You do not need any previous knowledge of the IPA to take this course. You will learn the symbols step by step in a practical way, using clear explanations and guided examples, so the sounds and their characters become familiar and useful as you progress.
Do I have to learn IPA if I don’t want to?
It’s understandable that, before starting something new, you might not yet see the relevance of learning IPA or how it relates to your goals. The course is organised so that you learn IPA gradually by following the lessons and reading the transcripts, and most students find it far easier than they expected. However, if you prefer not to focus on IPA at the beginning, you can still make progress by following the audio training and lesson explanations, returning to the IPA later on when you feel ready. If you’ve had confusing or frustrating experiences with IPA in the past, don’t worry — this course makes it surprisingly easy to learn.
Is there any personal feedback from Jade?
No. This is a self-study course, and there is no personal feedback or one-to-one correction from Jade. The lessons are designed so you can make steady progress on your own, using the audio training, transcripts and detailed notes provided.
What level of English do I need? (For English Learners)
You should be at least intermediate level (B1) or above to join the course. This ensures that you can follow the explanations, understand the example sentences and benefit fully from the structured pronunciation training.
What if I fall behind or miss a week?
You can’t fall behind in this course because you follow it independently and set your own pace. If you miss a week or two of practice, you simply restart at the first opportunity. Once you join, you keep access to the course files forever, which means you won’t pay more for taking breaks or for working through the material slowly.
I took the original English Jade course. Is this version free for me?
This is a new and improved version of the course using the same core materials that have been reorganised into a clearer, more structured programme with new vocabulary exercises included. Because it is a new and expanded version, it is purchased separately (not free for you). I grew up with a South London accent (ranked in accent surveys as one of the worst possible English accents to have), so I know what it’s like to have an accent that limits your potential by making people assume you are less educated.

My decision to change my accent to a clear, neutral southern English accent was driven by my desire to be freed from unfair judgements imposed on me due to the way that I spoke. Once I’d lost my original accent, I saw the benefits of the transformation in all areas of my life, the main one being treated with greater respect. It kept my critics and detractors guessing about my social background, which meant they couldn’t look down on me for it or use it against me.

I didn’t change my accent because I dislike where I come from or am ashamed, but because I saw how much it was holding me back and keeping me small through no fault of my own.

What if I change my mind? (Refund Policy)

I offer a 7-day refund window so you can join with confidence. If you start the course and genuinely feel it isn’t right for you, you can request a refund within that time by emailing me with your reason.

However, I need to be honest with you. In the past, some people have downloaded everything and then asked for a refund. Others have contacted me weeks or months later asking for a refund on the basis that they never started the course. And some have asked for refunds despite completing every lesson. All of these reasons are unfair to me as the creator of these materials. Because of potential misuse of the refund policy, I can’t give refunds to students who download the course files and leave, or to those who don’t begin the work. I can see whether lessons have been accessed, and the refund policy is simply there to protect me from misuse, not to make things difficult for genuine students.
