My lessons are for highly motivated adult students of English who are stuck making progress. They are aware that they are lacking knowledge but don’t know exactly what.
I am a qualified English teacher (I have a degree in the subject and also a CELTA certificate). This means I am trained in teaching methods that teachers on conversation-based platforms generally don’t use. My lessons are not random, aimless conversations. I identify what you need, then I teach you that.
As a skilled and experienced teacher, I identify what you need and set the lesson plan accordingly for you. Our lessons follow set topics appropriate to your level of English. You will not start to run before you can walk. This means I will not waste your time teaching you obscure things that you don’t need or are beyond your level.
Our lessons involve a lot of speaking, but it will always be purposeful.
I will interrupt you to correct you, and I will ask you to actively practise the new things I teach you. Throughout our lessons, I give you my full attention and make mental notes about what you need. You don’t get this with teachers on the big platforms, because most of them are overworked.
I expect reliability and consistency from my students, otherwise progress is not possible. I am not the right teacher for casual learners or people who don’t really want to learn. I am quite old-fashioned in my approach and believe that the teacher knows best.
We will learn grammar when you need it, but there is more to English than just grammar. Your phrasing, use of expressions, and overall vocabulary are just as important. This is why I will also push you to speak more precisely and elegantly.

My ideal student is...
- 1. Who are these General English lessons for?These lessons are for adult learners at B1–B2 level who want structured teaching and real progress. They are suitable for students who feel stuck, have gaps in their English and want a teacher to identify and fix those gaps.
They are not for beginners or advanced learners. - 2. Are these conversation lessons?No.
These are structured General English lessons, not free conversation practice.
You will speak a lot, but speaking is always purposeful. I interrupt to correct you, explain what you are missing and get you to practise new language actively. - 3. Can I choose the topics or design my own programme?No.
I choose the lesson plan, topics and method.
Lessons follow topics that are appropriate and necessary for your level. This approach avoids random lessons and helps you make faster, more consistent progress. - 4. Do you teach grammar?Yes, when it is needed.
Grammar is taught in context, when it is missing from your English or not being used correctly. However, lessons are not grammar-only. We also focus on phrasing, usage, vocabulary and speaking precision. - 5. How often should I take lessons?Consistency matters more than intensity.
Most students take one or two lessons per week. If you are a good fit for Jade’s lessons, you may be offered a package after a few initial appointments. - 6. Are these lessons suitable if I already take conversation lessons elsewhere?Yes.
These lessons work well alongside conversation practice on large platforms.
If you are already getting your speaking hours elsewhere, these lessons provide the structure, correction and direction that conversation alone does not.
